I have a 1987 j90tlcur johnson. It has the vro set up with the remote oil tank. I'm thinking about mixing my own fuel to be safe and to have less parts to fail. Do I need a new fuel pump or can I rig up the original one that is on it?

Can I remove the fuel pump and gravity feed the carbs direct by hanging the fuel tank above the motor with mixed gas to test the motor on muffs to see if it runs?

Just prime the bulb, that should get gas into the carbs, back out a carb drain plug to check they have fuel if you cant hear the carbs filling up, but you should hear the fuel push through.

So if I keep pumping the bulb, the motor should stay running?

Anyone know the exact part number for the non vro cheap fuel pump that gets bolted directly to the block for my year and model motor?
