Hi all so im having a problem with my boat i just bought. Im getting a knock low on the block it goes along through the rpm range i was curious if it was the u joints or gimbal bearing so i pulled the out drive off and fired it up for a min still get the knock its on the starter side toward the back of the motor. Im guessing its a rod when in the water im loosing out of the hole power occasionally and the motor diesels almost every time i turn it off i havent done a compression test but im figuring im due for a rebuild. So not a whole lot of boat stores around here i bought new rings and crank bearings off ebay but cannot find rod bearings anywhere can i buy them at an autoparts store advance autoparts is right down the road. Also have a seloc manual sorry but its pretty much useless no specs at all for a rebuild but do i leave the mounts on the block and mark the bolts to the frame or do i unbolt them from the block and leave the mounts in place? Never had to realign a boat motor but ive rebuilt a handfull of auto motors just dont want to mess up the alignment and not be able to get her back on the water quickly. Thanks for any help guys i really do appreciate it great forum tons of knoledge and definetly should have listened to the advise on the seloc manual!
