I had an issue this weekend with my starter. It appears the bendix gear isn't correctly engaging the flywheel. I have posted a link to a slow-motion video I took of the issue. It appears the nut is spinning below the bendix, but the bendix itself isn't. Also notice that the bendix gear doesn't fall back down after power is cut. I am wondering what could cause this problem? Is the starter not getting enough juice from the batteries or solenoid, or is there something sheared in the bendix apparatus? Neither? The link is below
