Hello hotrod4303,
Welcome to Iboats.
If your floor is bad, then you may have stringer and transom problems too.
Pic's are really needed for the folks to help. Open an account on photo bucket and you can resize pic's and insert directly into your post. It's also free.
Good luck on your journey.

88 Bayliner, I'll guarantee there a new transom and stringers in your future. Sorry to say but at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you'll have a solid vessel when finished.

Yes, but easier said than done. If you have patches of clear missing you may want to sand as much of the clear off as you can. There's a reason it is coming off. Poor prep.

You've got your work cut out for you that's for sure! They were cool looking boats though. I like the swim platform added to the back.

Oh yeah I missed that part. Yes, get that idea out your mind right now. A rotted '80's Bayliner will need a complete refit. No less.

Re: 1988 bayliner cobra

hi hotrod....

welcome to the forum !

bondo is correct....lets get you built first before we go after the gellcoat...
(btw...i do not think that your boat has clear coat over the gellcoat.....if it does....just sand it off....its a waste.

read here in the forum.
your boat is a bayliner....but you can look at any restoration thread on a fiberglass boat.....they are all built the same and it does not matter form a searay to a bayiner to a glasstron tri hull......
the process is the same for the refit.

read the compleated projects forum...
redfyrys project.
jason j's skanky beast.
jsecera pics of work so far.

in this forum
read the hull extension in progress.
it has all the fiberglass info and everything you need.

also......start investigating wood......and run out and buy some now....it takes time for it to dry.....it must be dry before you start to glass

cheers
oops
