I will start by saying that the OMC King Cobra setup isn't scary itself, it is finding the parts. The 2 that have been my biggest problem were the exhaust manifolds, and the crankshaft pulley(not a normal problem). Anyway, bought this boat and trailer 3 years ago..."Needs Work" for $600.00. 3 years later, I know why a boat payment is the way to go! I absolutely had a blast going through this boat, and I put plenty of blood sweat and money into it, but to do it again wont happen until I am retired. When I tore the motor down, the cam journals were spun, found a crack in 1 head, and the block was cracked...so time to buy a longblock. I had to build a bench, and then I was going to simply resheet all the decking. Turns out there was much more rot than I planned on, so I chased it all out. 3 year later I am ready to hit the water. Oh yeah, I had to rewire my 10 pin because it was junk, and I was melting starter solenoids. I have plenty more pics, but I can only add 5. Oh yes, Marine grade Plywood is expensive.

A ton of work there but good lord what an awesome boat you ended up with tho! Too funny "600 and needs work". People have no idea how much effort goes into a boat restoration.

Beautiful work J1, oh and when are you starting your next project?

It looks like you've done some quality work. With the price of a new boat what it is, I'm sure you've saved a significant amount of money and now you know every inch of your boat and are ensured that it will last for decades. You cant' "BUY" that at any price. If you did the upholstery work, it's outstanding!!!! Looking forward to seeing more pics. She's a BEAUT!!!!!!

Thanks Guys! not sure on the next project...I had a little help from a friend on the upholstery, but I built the bench, and did everything else. Yes, I agree I know there is no more rot, and I glassed it all in to preserve the integrity going forward. here is a few more pics..but I wont over load the pic posts. Most excellent end result. We might not have followed you on your resto, but from the pictures, and the shared journey we're all on or have been on, we can appreciate the "after" given what "before" looked like.

Nice job!
