so I knew I had a bad control ( for some reason) because when I was trying to sell my 40 HP it ran perfect, then a buyer came and I couldn't get spark... then I realized after he left that I had used 2 different controls!
Now to the 70 hp on my sons boat.... the control with the bad stop circuit has TNT buttons and the other one doesn't... funny thing is I had used the bad control to initially start the 70 today.... but I hadn't hooked the throttle cables up and when it started it started to rev high!! when I turned the key off...the motor kept running...so I ripped the spark plus wires off to kill the motor....and looking around I saw the black-yellow wire near the power pack was cut!...soo that's the reason it initially started!! and its why the motor wouldn't shut off with the key!...so I spliced the black yellow wire on the motor,,,,, but now my control wont start the motor!...if zi go hook up the non TNT control the motor starts fine........sooooo

I need to figure out whats wrong inside my tnt -control box.... I need that control because of the tnt buttons......where do I look and how do I test?...im assumijng somewhere the black -yellow wire is grounded in the box......is that correct?.....im also guess that the key lanyard emergency stop button and the key are two ways that normally close the stop circuit........any help as what the check inside this control first?

thanks

If you have the white or gray external control boxes switch the handles around the T/N/T switch is an add on. Does the motor turn over at all or does it just not start.

Just switch the handles around an allen head in the back of the box is the only thing handle in. That will give you time to diagnose the other box.

people wonder why their bill at the shop is so high!..i just spent 4 hours trying to troubleshoot the two controls... I have a service manual for accessories, and I have the service manual for the motor. I have discovered through testing with an ohm meter that the BAD control has a bad key switch, but thje good control has a bad emergency kill switch... this is a winter time boat I am giving to my son and it likely hell be in is alone sometimes...so the kill switch is super important/ so I take apart the BAD switch control and I checked the switch itself( previously I had checked at the red plug... switch is the culprit....so I figure Ill dig in there and pull out the emergency kill switch to insytll in the other control.....the dam thing crumbles into 3 pieces as I remove it!......grrrr......the next item I discover is that the key switch in the GOOD control actually has the outer shield that has the thread on it that secures it to the box...is broken off and just the tumblers are protruding from the boax...key still fits and works,......but that isn't ideal..... so I am looking at a new key switch and a new kill switch for the "good" control box! grrrrrrr.......... now imagine the mechanic telling you all this and he still wants $300..... ha ha ha..... I have plenty of bimini controls...but the parts don't interchange and it not a good fit for the super sport starcraft....... soo looking up parts and on craigslist for another control...thanks for the help
