Howdy all.Question. I am going to redo my Bayliners interior (removing 2 rear seats/dog house engine cover with a full bench, replacing pilots double fold down seat with single captain seat with riser to go up and down) and am always looking for more space. I take the 3 cushions out of my bow and the fore triangle shaped one has a "cooler" looking area with water drain and the side seats are..well..nothing. I mean you would EXPECT storage, but its just wood. Whats under it? I would love to cut some holes for storing live vests and ski gear so I can use my bench for my skis, subs, amp and my 4 batterys (yes 4..1 for boat, 1 for stereo, 1 for lighting/neon/strobes, and 1 for backup). I know its a lot of work, but I sure love a challenge!!

Hard parts going to be having a radar arch made for my lighting!

cody, unless you are using for a wake board boat, you need to consider load distribution, with the engine, outdrive, 4 batteries, and passengers on the bench seat. it is going to be extremely stearn heavy. most bow riders the area is accessable from the cockpit, usually just a plywood bulk head. before cutting i do some exploration, like using a hole saw and see whats underneath. i'm on the south west side of Jax.

Are you talking about 4 full size batteries? Sounds like you want a high power stereo. I am not sure what the amp draw is on one of those but you might check it against the Amp hour rating of a battery. Considering how long you want to operate these accessories you may could get by with fewer batteries. I can understand a spare battery for the boat but not for accessories.

The stereo is big by even car standards. I have the head unit (Sony Mobil ES Pro Marine), 6 6.5" speakers. 2 12" subs, and 1200 watts of power (true, not "rated"). Also there will be neons, strobes, driving lights, accent lighting, etc. I know..seems like a lot and a waste..but I like it like that!

And I thought about..if there was room under the bow cushions..putting the batteries there. If nothing else put 2 batteries and the subs up front with amps under the cockpit area in the storage area (have 1 am there now). The bench will be starting where the doghouse ends now so will be more midship. I waned to keep one fold down seat but might just replace them both with captain style seats that raise and lower. I was going to convert my in floor ski lcker to a cooler so I had that weight lower and mid, so only thing behind bench is a battery or 2, light little things, and my 4 cylinder engine and out drive.

Should be able to. Boat is a bayliner..light boat. And 21' boats I see with heavier builds run same engine. So I figgure I should be able to redo it and still be fine. Plus..if it doesnt run as fast as I want..reason enough to replace the engine with a 4.3 or a 5.0!!!

I have "been through" tons of these capris. The box bases of your back-to-back seats are glassed in, so your gonna have to grind them suckers out and patch that up (in fact theres parts where they have little "tabs" that fit into holes in the floor). In the later models they did have storage in the front area, so I don’t see a problem with adding some of your own. Back bench is a nice idea; in fact I prefer the sport seating your converting to. Would be nice to be able to remove the two side most seats of the bench and have a place for riders to step on, instead of the nice clean vinyl you clean only hours before they stepped on it.

I’m not much of a stereo guy, but could you not cut it down to say 2 good batteries and have a couple capacitors and install an aftermarket alternator?

Caps are mainly for subs as the amps can draw serous power, and I always run a separate battery for my system even in my car so I can listen with engine off longer. Lighting will need its own battery and I guess if I isolate the main battery I could get by with 3, save a little space. And I want to run the alternator I have now solely because it was bought new end of this past summer. And that lil bugger wasn't cheap!

I know taking out my layout seats will be some effort..I am also replacing carpet so I figure its a good time to replace floor. There are no soft spots but what the heck..better safe than sorry eh!!

GREAT Idea on the stepping area! I could actually mount the seat on a roller rail and slide it back out of the way to have a carpeted area to step on..be good also for a wet suit sitting area so people aren't getting the cushions wetter than need be. Course they would be walking all over my sun deck to get to that area. ugh! Could make the 1/3rd of the sun deck where my rear ladder is hinged on the side so it flips up to reveal carpet as well. Hmmm..lots of options comming to mind now! I just wish I had a full platform back there. Was going to have a round tube one made with mesh..they want 6-700 for it!! I am not sure what a welder goes for..but I figgure it wouldnt take more than 2 hours at maybe 50 an hour..maybe I should just put an add out there for folks that know how to weld aluminum!!

i have a 1989 bayliner and need to work on it next spring. I would like to get lots of parts. I need a fuel pump, stern parts and bolts, and new fuel lines.

Can I get parts from you?
