Hilton I ended up forgetting to do my Mercruiser yesterday, I got home too late and borrowed your shop light idea but used a higher wattage light bulb.

Hey! It's that time of year again, and this year I'm building SEATS!

I have a friend who can do upholstery work. The driver's seat and doghouse are at his house already.

I looked back and saw that the doghouse was a little tattered and torn. I assume that you are going with the original color combination?

No. I bought 10 yards of white and 5 yards of grey, both 54" wide. The doghouse and driver's seat are already at my friend's house. I want to perfect the rear facing front seat and rear bench before taking them to his house Thursday. I plan to add a ~3/4" gap beneath the rear bench so that it's not sitting in water should some get in the boat.

I'm also going to do the side panels and add speakers to them. JBL makes marine speakers that are pretty reasonable.

Amazon.com: JBL MS9200 6-Inch x 9-Inch 2-Way Marine Speakers: Car Electronics

They have the same series in 6.5 I could put near the front.

I added the 3/4" runners beneath the rear seat. I hated how it made it sit. Got rid of them and painted the bottom of it. Hopefully that will add one more layer of water protection. It will be covered with vinyl anyway, the color won't make a difference. *(Ford Racing Blue for the record)

Hey there, welcome back...
Can't wait to see the new interior...
The paint and vinyl between the seat bottom and the deck might cause some water retention problems...is it going to be removable between outings to let everything dry out?
I wouldn't be as worried about the seat as your nice new deck...;)

Yes. The rear seat will easily come out. It has to be removable in order to open the panel that runs under it.

We did a little work on the driver's seat today. Pictures to follow.

It's been a long time since I updated this post, but a lot has happened with the boat:

The interior, including the doghouse is finished (pics later)
I've installed a stereo and speakers (pics later)
Put lights on the wakeboard tower (yep, pics later)
Fixed the front red/green light (it illuminates red and green)

AND TODAY!!! Stripped

and oiled the swim platform

I didn't take any "before pictures" so there really is no comparison. A previous owner had coated it in varnish and the varnish was coming off. Galen insists it wasn't him. I used a hand plane to scrape off as much varnish as I could, then a body sander to sand the teak until it looked nice. I used 80 grit, then wiped it down water to raise the grain, then sanded with 120 grit. I wiped it down again, let it dry, then wiped on 5 coats (an entire can) of teak oil.

The wood will keep soaking that oil up too, and that's the key (I think) to keeping her looking as nice as it it today. Nice work all the way around!! That platform looked brand new after you finished sanding and prepping her for oil.

I still have to paint the rear piece of wood. The cupholder needs at least a second coat.

Well, it's that time of year again. Saturday was the first trip out this year. I've done a few things to the boat in preparation for another summer on the water.

I replaced the ugly, mismatched switches with a bank of switches that hopefully last longer than the switches I keep replacing almost monthly.

I installed a "battery buddy," replaced the horn,

and cleaned up some of the wiring

I installed a rear view mirror

and bought a new cover

I had shoulder surgery right before Christmas, so this summer will be spent in the boat rather than behind it. I don't mind. I'm pretty excited to be out on the water again.

You've had a long road to go down with your project and did fantastic! You must be running out of projects to keep you busy. Didn't Galen have a project going the same time as yours?

Shots fired! Galen knows he's got some catching up to do.

New speakers!

I top mounted them because there wouldn't be enough headroom to walk beneath the speakers had I mounted them where they hung down.

This picture also shows the spotlights:
