I have a 70HP Evinrude E70TLESB that I am having some issues with. I bought the boat two years ago and it ran fine but would flood/stall out at full throttle. I took it to a "mechanic" last year and he basically didn't fix the problem and stopped corresponding with me. I didn't get the boat back until the end of the season and started working on it myself early this spring. So far I have set the timing via the Joe Reeves method. The manual states maximum throttle advance is 19BTDC, I set it at 15BTDC. I used the top spark plug (which I believe is #1?) I verified all 3 coils are firing. I have replaced the spark plugs and wires. I have replaced all of the fuel lines and filter and verified no leaks. I removed the VRO system / pump and am premixing a 50:1 ratio. I installed this fuel pump: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200542169938 . I have a new battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can start the engine, it just runs rough and dies immediately when put into gear. I tried retarding/advancing the timing a degree in each direction but it didn't seem to make a difference.
