So Ive decided to rip out my floor on my 20' Quantum and replace it. It doesnt really have any soft spots but it was redone once before I bought it and it wasnt done correctly. While the deck wood is solid, there is a gap between the deck and the stringers. Needless to say, its a bouncy ride down the lake. I will start the tear out this weekend and will post pics of what I have and of my progress. I pray my stringers are in good shape, I really dont want to have to replace them too. Of course I will if need be. I have been looking at a lot of threads on the replacement process and Im sure this answer is in one of them. My question is, is it possible to use one layer of 1708 vs 3 layers of CSM or is that not a good idea? I want to do it right, but if I can save steps, I definitely will.

Welcome to the dry dock, gussbuster...

Here is a link to a tried and true method...

Make sure you pay special attention to the edges...round them over slightly, so the cloth goes over them easier...1/4' round over bit in a router, or even sanding with a grinder, belt sander, etc...will work also...

Best of luck,

Good for you! I like to see someone being proactive instead of reactive. Post up a ton of pics and these guys will walk you through it all. If there's "short-cuts", I can assure you they've been found and will be shared. Good luck!
