Hey All!. Just got a 1991 Evinrude 4 HP Deluxe (E4RDHEIA) that was thought to be seized. Soaked the pistons for a week or so with Kroil and she came loose. Took the carb apart and cleaned it. Gonna get a carb kit now that it looks like its worth saving and sinking some money into it. Same with water pump kit. I have a few questions about this motor. I'm very green to outboards. I got it running and pumping water.
The twist throttle was very stiff. The handle had tons of sand in it. Got that all cleaned out. There's a plate under the flywheel that rotates when you twist the throttle. That was very stiff or stuck. Kroil loosened it up but not sure how free it should rotate. Someone help me out on that?
Also, there's a knob at the end of the twist throttle that threads inside the handle. When I took apart the handle, some plastic parts that look like they have broke off came falling out. Look to have came off of that knob. What does that knob do?
On the carb. What setting do I set the long brass screw to that the rotating knob or I think low speed idle knob beside the choke lever to?
Any other info on settings etc would be greatly appreciated.
