1992 Johnson 8hp will not idle

I have a 1992 Johnson 8 hp that will not idle. It sounds like it runs out of gas. I have put a new fuel pump and carb kit in. new tank and hose. I set the air seat at 2 1/2 turns. If I pull the choke out when it starts to die it picks up again. Help!!!

Ok but have you readjusted and fine tuned low speed jet yet? It's probably running to rich? Post back results.

That's the same one that i seated and then backed off 2 1/2 turns

Ok that 2.5 turns is just for starters, it isn,t properly tuned yet. Start motor and allow to warm. Now working between Idle screw and item # 15 low speed jet, Work between them to get the lowest maximum rpms you can get! Now turn item Item # 15 out 1/4 to 1/2 and leave it alone. Restart motor if you have to and set idle screw to recommended rpm in gear. Post back results.

I found a crack in the float bowl. thanks for the help. Ken
