Well hate to break it to you, but there is no easy king cobra to get parts for. They have been out of production for 20 years, and were never popular new. Props ARE easy though, any prop from a normal cobra or 800 series will fit. That is not at all a common diameter, but you could get a smaller prop with that pitch, no problem.

I'm thinking they are supplied more recent that out of production 20 years ago, just don't abuse it.

It's difficult to tell not knowing what model number yours is. Yours may not even be a 1992 model. (boat builders frequently use last years model)

If you do indeed have a 1992 model and it has dog-clutch drive, and you do not have electronic ignition, you're in good shape. most everything is still available and if the drive crunches, you can even get the SEI kit and put one of their drives on the back.

If you have the hump in the drive (cone-clutch) and you have electronic (Spitfire) ignition then you're still ok if everything is working good. If the ignition fails, and it's the module or other non-available part, you may not be able to find a (new) replacement......That's still not the end of the world......you just get an aftermarket marine distributor (MSD, Mallory etc)

I don't think ANY 1992 5.7L engine came with the Spitfire........

There were 3 1992 models according to BRP's parts site. 1 was a "Cone' and the other 2 were "DOGs"

Looks like all three models used the same distributor....

Props are not a problem. You can easily buy a new prop (aluminum or stainless) from many manufacturers.

I was under the impression the clutch dog king was gone after 1989. The catalog must be referring to the regular cobra?

There's 2 "cobras"

Dog-Clutch and Cone-Clutch

OMC called many drive packages "King"

Before and including 1989, the "King was the 460 (dog-clutch) model. After 1989, they called more than one combination "King"

It really doesn't mean much at all. There was several different drives. Before 1989, 3 different (dog-clutch) drives held from about 60-108oz of oil (the 108oz oil capacity model being the one behind the 460)

1990 was the first year for the Cone clutch drive which was NOT a volvo joint venture drive.

Somewhere in the mid 90's, Volvo and OMC agreed to jointly produce drives (SX) and the drives from that point on was Volvo. It was not "the same" as the earlier joint venture drive. (although very similar)

Early 90's (cone clutch) drives are the most rare and since they also made a LOT of dog-clutch drives, they still used them until they were sold out (on the smaller engine packages)

After about 90 or so, the 7.4L/7.5L (1990 only) and 8.2L engines ONLY came with the newer cone clutch drive. It was a mix with the smaller engines until 93 or 94.......

You can verify all this by going to BRP's parts site and looking at the parts breakdown for the different years. It's obvious which engines got which drives from 90 on....
