1992 Reinell 3.0 Cobra OMC - Hydraulic Fitting

The issue - need to replace the hydraulic fitting that goes from the down hose into the hydraulc pump.

Question: where do I find a replacement? And is there such a thing as a fitting that can attach to the hose that would not require crimping?

thats a factory high pressure fitting, can't fix that.
you are going to have to buy a new hose.

I don't understand why I can't fix it? As long as I can find the correct threaded fitting, and a coupler for the hose - why would that be an impossible fix?

Besides the fact that it appears the transom would need to come off to get at that hose. Or pull the engine - neither of which I really want to do.

You could try talking to a shop that specializes in hydraulic hoses, I believe they do have a fix for that, it's somewhat of a chineese finger torture and uses a barb end with a retainer ring, I wouldn't say it's not fixable.

Check with a local hydraulic shop. I had issues installing a new trim pump cause the new one had a different connection than the older one. The shop I went to pulled out the correct fitting for me in no time.

Due to the pressures you can see in the hydraulic hoses, I am not sure something other than a crimp on connection would work. Once again, the hydraulic shop is your best friend. They might be able to do the crimp on your existing hose right there on your boat.

At work we use Swagelok and Parker-Hannifin stuff for making up some test equipment. It's not quite the same as a trim pump type hose, though. The stuff from those two companies would be something you could do at home without special tools. I am just not sure if they have something to work with that type/size hose.

Apparently, my dad (the boat is at his house) took it to the boat shop after checking with the hydraulic shop and they said they wouldn't replace the fitting. Reading through your instructions on replacing the hoses, it looks like it shouldn't be that big a deal for them. I didn't realize that manifold popped out the back - thanks for that. So where do I buy a manual for this anyway? I'd love to own one.

Nevermind that last part - ordered the manual from iboats. Durrrrrrr.....
