Hello to everyone, I am new to these forums as well as saltwater boating.
I just purchased a used boat to use in the bay in NJ and it has a 1993 Evinrude 115.
I checked the compression and all 4 were all around 135psi or so.
The boat was senior owned who cannot see anymore so supposively it only has about 100 hours on it.
It looks very clean when I took the top off.
The lower oil was not milky and looked good.
The guy said it def. needs a water pump.
I ended up dropping it off at a outboard repair shop today. The guy said he will check it all out and see thermostat and water pump. But he said not many people will even take a look at older engines and blah blah blah. If he can't get it apart or something like that he said it would be junk and I would need to get another outboard.
I am not really sure what he means but not being able to just change the water pump, etc?
Anyone?
Thanks
