Posted a while back on some water intrusion, hydrolocked engine... Cleared all the water out and got the engine running, but... I noticed water coming in over the exhaust, dribbling down the transom plate... I just pulled the engine today and took off the transom plate and transom mount... The bottom of the transom is rotten on the right. I stuck a screwdriver in it and it went in pretty easy. It is a 1993 Chris Craft Concept 217 BR with a little over 250 hours. It runs great (or did...) I have worked on it for about 5 years restoring it back to where it should be... The previous owner had let it sit in the water which caused some corrosion problems and probably started the rot... I love this boat. What are my options? Can the bad area be cut out and repaired? :'(

I've seen some these rotten transoms repaired...

A good glass man can cut the skin, re-core and re-glass like new. Will cost some $$$.

Any boat is repairable, no matter how extensive the damage, just a matter of blood, sweat and tears, (and a lot of $$$)... If you love the boat, repair it, as it will have to be a labor of love!

Good luck!

Holgo,

It sucks. But take some time and read through the Restoration forum and see what others are doing or have done. It's not the end of the world, just the beginning of a new project!
