Yes, I never think about let it run after dark to see where the spark coming. It is very dangerous if the leaking gas and open spark somewhere on the motor.
If you have leaking gas why not fix that problem first. Of course you will still need to run it to see if it’s fixed but if you have plenty of fresh air flow and your in a confined closed up space you should ok.
