Hey I got a 1994 bayliner capri with a 3.0L mercruiser. I went out on the lake and after about an hour of riding I started to hear a ticking from the engine (was not sure of area). Went to the beach. Going home, still ticking and I pull into the lock and put it into neutral and it stalls out (was going max throttle all the time from beach to lock). Once it died out it would not start.
Cranks and intermittent spark (I belive it is only sparking when you first crank it) (also while cranking it has times where it wants to turn over and coughs a little)
Replaced Ignition coil
Replaced Ignition Switch
Replaced Ignition Module
Unplugged RPM guage
Tested for spark with spark plug connected directly into ignition coil and was not getting spark
Rotor spins
For the ignition coil I am getting constant 12v and light from test light on the PURPLE wire. I am not getting any ground/pulising ground on the GRAY wire (when cranking or in run position)
Gray and Purple shown below connected to ignition coil
Checked OHMS on the wires plug into the ignition module from the distributor was getting 844 OHMS (I believe the colors were GREEN and WHITE that lead from the distributor to the ignition module).

Is there something I am missing? Is it the pickup coil inside the distributor?
