It may be partly due to the skeg being (from the looks of the pics) worked over a bit. I have the exact same boat but a bow rider same engine, drive, helm, guages etc. It looks as though the skeg has hit something at one point and then been re worked a bit. This may not even be the cause but you never know. I love my crownline its been a real solid boat for me so far, I would get on the impeller change as soon as you can though, I do mine every two years weather it needs it or not, just cheap insurance to not cook my engine.

I'll be doing the impeller change at the end of the season.. I have the part with me in the boat at this point.

By the way, as far as the prop goes.. when I took it out, it looks like it maxes out @ 5200RPM or so. Is that a bit high?

Just wanted to chyme in and say thats an awfully nice looking boat! I've got a 95 Monterey 210..its a bowrider, but has the same engine package 350/Alpha 1 Gen II as yours.

The impeller on the GenII doesn't have to be changed as often..2-3yrs depending on usage. The GenI had a plastic housing, whereas the GenII is metal. You'll feel better about changing that out, along with the sterndrive oil at season's end.

As far as the "wandering" you are experiencing at low speeds. Thats a trait of the deep V hull boats like ours. Mine does the same thing. I used to always try and correct and re-correct the steering as it wandered around, until a poster here told me to try not doing anything..just hold it steady and see what happens. With my boat, it ultimately came right back the other way without me correcting it..strange, you should try it and see what happens.

The 5200 RPM's that you are getting at WOT is on the high side. Are you getting those numbers with the boat loaded down, full of fuel and gear ect?
For your engine 4200-4600 is about the range you want to be in. 4400-4600 will keep your holeshot good, yet keep the engine from straining when loaded up.

What pitch SS prop do you have on there now? I have a 21 pitch 3 blade and a 19 pitch 4 blade and it performs great.

Thanks for the feedback.. so for what its worth, holding the steering wheel steady does have the boat go back and forth -- ultimately going straight, but in a funny looking way.

The prop right now I don't have details on -- its 3 bladed, stainless, and old.. The motor says its ideal operating range is 4400-4800, so I'm going to take the prop off tomorrow and go down to West Marine to pick up a new propeller (if they have one). I'm planning on going up(???) 2-3" in pitch, and going to a 4-blade propeller. I'll then keep the 3-blade SS one in the boat just in case I ever need it.

Should have a number etched in the steel somewhere.

Ok, so shoot to have WOT at about 4600-4800. So when you are loaded down you'll hopefully be around that 4600 mark.

West Marine is a complete and utter rip off. If money isn't an issue..go for it I guess. If I were you, I would order it right here on Iboats...Great service, fast shipping and fair prices.

Be careful...when you go from a 3 blade to a 4 blade, the general rule of thumb is to drop 2" of pitch. I went from a 21 pitch 3 blade to a 19 inch 4 blade both aluminum. The 4 blade holds better on the bottom end for wakeboarding, and roughly the same on the top.

If it turns out that you have a 19 pitch 3 blade and we know thats not enough pitch for that motor I would buy the same 19 pitch 4 blade or s 21 pitch 3 blade.

So I ended up ordering the Solas Rubex 4-Blade Aluminum 14" 19degree prop... I took the boat out again today (with my current 3-blade, stainless Stiletto 14.5" 17 degree prop) and full throttle gets to 5100RPM with 6 people on board, and about 45-47mph (speedo.. not GPS). Definitely too high.

(ordered from iboats.com...)

Congratualations on a great looking Classic Crownline.

Your water temp is within normal operating range.

Steering wander is normal a low speed, try not to over correct, just increase the throttle up a few more revs.

Try & keep your WOT closer to 4800.

Yeah, I did notice that it goes away a bit if you bump up the throttle.. thats just another area I need to tune things a bit. The throttle goes about 50% of the way down before actually increasing the engines throttle. That seems a bit harsh. Need to check all the cables/etc. Any tuning recommendations for that?

Yea..17 pitch 3 blade on your boat isn't enough. Would probably rip a stump out on the bottom end, but my guess is you'll fall into a better range with that new solas 4-blade 19. Thats exactly what I have on my boat and it does great.

Re: 1994 Crownline 210 w/ Mercruiser 350 Magnum: Hows it running?

So I posted another thread (http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2817178) that hasn't gotten alot of views yet.. so I'll link it here. Short version, steering issues.

I solved the "hard-then-easy-then-hard" issue of my steering.. but I still feel like the power steering really isn't as assisted as it should be. I've got the service manuals for the boat, but I don't see any indication of a proper method to bleed the power steering system. Is that something that just isn't necessary? It seems like I could have easily gotten air into the power steering cylinder when we took the motor out..

I have the exact same boat as you (but 1993). My prop is looking a little 'tired', and a few web sites (propeller stores) recommend a 14.25x21 or 14.25x23 for this boat. That should keep the RPM in range, and provide the best performance.

These are great boats, and I'm glad I got one. Now I just need to figure out a trim issue (throttle switches aren't working), and I'll be on the water!

BTW... you're hull looks great! What did you do to polish it? Mine's a llittle hazy, but still smooth.
