He replaced the bulb and zip tied it up in a higher position. He did say that gas was draining back into the tank. I have not tried my old starting procedure.

I sure don't know what my repair guy is talking about. I tried his redicilous stating procedure and it's still hard to start after it has sit up. I am sure that it's not old age of the motor. I am being make out to be someone who all of a sudden does not know how to start a motor that I have had for 15 years. I have had it in the shop twice for a total of $357.00 dollars. Could it be the choke? It seems to begin to fire when you massage the bulb while attemping to start. I believe it has someing to do with starting it up after it has been on a load and not after it has been just started up in the yard. That would explain why it always starts up for the repair guy. Any ideas?

I believe the difference to be the quality of the fuel today, the 10% alcohol lowers the vapor point of the fuel, causing heat soak issues.

Idle the engine for a few minutes before shut down after running hard, level the motor trim.

This should help cool the motor and hopefully reduce the boil off of any fuel that may be causing a slight flooding and also to prevent any fuel spilling from a tilted carb.

Any updates ?

Im having an almost identical problem with the same OB.

I can never get it started first thing in the AM + end up flooding it. Once I do get it running, it runs and restarts like a champ.

Do you guys have some sort of allergy to spark GAP testers ?:p
Get the manual and a gap tester, do the test and fix the problem.
