1995 evinrude 3cyl 60hp
model number BE60TLEOC.
Today i started to strip down my spare engine has it definitely needs a rebore, i knew this already as
when i got it the head was off and the pistons out etc.
The engine came as a spare with my other engine being a good running engine.
i will be taking my block once completely apart to a machine shop and hopefull get a rebore.
what i want to know is where is the best place to get the parts ?
no way am i going to pay the prices in the uk for brp parts, they are just too crazy over here.:mad-new:
I am hoping for about a 30 oversize, maybe even 40 oversize rebore unless its too bad and needs to
be re-sleeved.
If it needs to be re-sleeved and too expensive then it just might be used as spares alone.
I am hoping to get good decent parts and i know its not going to be on the cheap, but got to be better
than paying the prices BRP want in the uk.
I will be needing 3 complete piston set/rings etc and all the bearings and gaskets to do the job properly.
1 of my pistons might be ok and 2 rods might be ok, but atleast 1 piston is total scrap as is 1 rod due to
the rod being left in a bucket of water and going rusty.
The crank has also got a touch of light surface rust but i think 2 mins with wire woool will polish it back up nice.
there is no signs of wear on the crank journals, just a bit iof surface rust on the weights.
Two of the bores might even come up with a hone, but the middle one is scored a fair bit, it looks like
the VRO pump went bad and lack of oil done the damage.
The water pump is fine and all waterways nice and clear, thermostat was good etc.
Ive not opened the exhaust cover yet as it started to get dark and tommorow ill try and get that
undone and have a look in there.
When i recently tried the vro on my other engine the fuel side was bad and the oil side as well so im pretty sure ive found the problem to cause this damage in the first place.
Once i get the engine rebuilt it will be on pre-mix anyway with a new fuel pump (new but old style ) etc.
So now im just gonna be hunting around to try and find prices for parts.
any advice on parts and prices will be much apreciated, and any advice for when re-building will also be good.
this is the first time i will have re-built an outboard, so will probably be a learning curve.
Ive rebuilt engines before, but mainly auto engines and very small rc 2 strokes.
i think i have the tools to do the job, just gonna take my time and do my best with it.
