HAHAHA Those pictures of your camp were exactly where we were staying at on Arizona RUn 9 last year. That is close to Bumblebee, right? Great job on the boat. I will be in PH, AZ in about 3 weeks.

That picture you have the stream flowing really well...was were I got stuck due to my tire pressure being too high.

Absolutely...we got of I-17 at Bumblebee. Staged shortly after you hit the dirt road. The River was going good..at one point all 4 tires were under water:eek: This picture where the water was running good, I tried to cross, but high sided my bike on a rock..managed to get off without going in the in drink and turned around. Man was in nice out there..hard to believe I was in Arizona.
Here are some more.

I appreciate that! I'm excited to see how the Gel Coat on the deck turns out..won't be long.

I've been wanting to mention to you..I played in the Texas league back in 04 and visited Dr.Pepper park many times...Frisco was a great up and coming city back then. I'm also associated with Advocare that is based in Frisco as an endorser for them..small world.

That's awfully nice lookin Lou, if I can get it to come out anything like that I'll be pleased.
One question. Where the deck meets the hull, the hull is a different color, is that paint or carpet?

That is carpet and I left it because if I removed it I'd have to have gelcoated the gunnels too...and there is a non-removable shelf there made out of plywood so it was easier to leave the carpet there....but the gunnels are the only place I'd tolerate it!

Hmm. I'm wondering if I should do the same thing. I still have my old carpet and the gunnels were in fine shape. I can't tell from the pics, did u bind the bottom edges?

No I did not but I got some flexible edging from West Marine that I was going to put on the end of the capet to give it a finished edge...but never got around to it...this spring...

Part of the reason I had the shop to the final finish and gelcoat...here it's 30 degrees and you wouldn't be able to do that kind of work....until April at the earliest...its great that you can get all this done now....our weather here is not good for glass work unless you have a big heated garage...

Yea..gotta admit..its pretty nice out this way. I was laying the glass today and I was sweating:p..the resin was cooking off pretty quick, had to tone down the hardener a bit.

Do you know if the shop rolled your Gelcoat or shot it?

Haha..Its sitting in my garage as I type. A front came through last night and is bringing colder temps and some precip....I've got a few things I need to do first anyhow, I have the seat pedestal on order and I need to get the base secured and glassed to the deck and I want to run over the surface with some 80 grit as well.

Re: 1995 Monterey 210 Deck/Stringer Restore

Been at a bit of a standstill lately. Waiting on the seat pedestal to come in so I can fit it before I lay down the gel coat. It should be here tomorrow. I did manage to build some storage boxes that will fit under the jumpsests. Working on getting those carpeted right now. I'll get some pics when I finish them.

Got a question, do they make any sort of a "holder" for an iPod or itouch that you can attach to your dash, so it doesn't flop all over the place while under way? I'm thinking of something like you would have in your car that holds your cell phone.

I have the same boat but a 196. Same exact problem areas. How did you go about getting the stringers out at the bottom and did you cushion them with anything at the bottom.

Nice! Put up some pictures of your boat..not many of us out there.

Not sure what you mean by "how did I go about getting the stringers out at the bottom"

The stringers that were bad in my boat...were BAD! I mean basically dirt and dust..so it was pretty easy getting it out. It became more difficult when I started running into good wood. I left the fuel tank shell intact and used its strength when I put the stringers back in. You don't want the stringers to be sitting on the hull, when you glass them in.

When I put the stringers back in the boat, I bedded them with a Poly resin mix (Resin/Talc/Sawdust). Strong as all get out, those things are solid now.

Put up some pics and I'd be more than happy to assist you any way I can.

Re: 1995 Monterey 210 Deck/Stringer Restore

Got a few things done while I'm waiting for the seat pedestal to be delivered. I'm adding some storage boxes that will fit under the rear jumpseats. They will act as a storage box, step for people to get in and out of the boat, and will be support for the seat when someone is sitting back there. The design from Monterey was kinda crappy, and the seat had a tendancy to cave in. Also, people won't be stepping on the seat constantly to get in and out of the boat anymore..should help them last longer. I used old carpet, so it isn't perfect, but it will do.

I also made some wood bases for the battery box and the trim motor. I will PL and glass these at the stern, rather than just screwing the battery box and trim motor to the deck. I guess after seeing water water intrusion can do, I'm trying to avoid screwing into the deck as much as possible.

Here are some pictures of the boxes and bases. Gel Coat should go down in a few days.

Looking good David. Your moving right along..still watching snow freeze here, melts for an hour or so each day then re-freezes. Beats 'not' having a boat, beat's 'not' having a boat, I keep repeating this, but as R.E.M. said once{i believe it was them} "I'm losing my religion". Come on spring, just a taste would be sweet for now.
