Problem started with water in fuel, naturally motor died. Drained built in tank, installed water separator, motor idled great, planed out but died at 4000 rpm. By passed new water separater, motor still died at 4000 rpm. Removed check valve in tank, no change in performance. Hooked up motor to portable 5 gallon tank, motor ran perfect for over an hour. I stopped and restarted several times without problems. Hooked it back up to built in tank, problems returned and it dies at 4000 rpm shortly after getting on plane. My considerations: Replace aged fuel line, possible clogged vent line, possible weak fuel pump that works with short line on portable tank but not on longer line to built in tank. Any other suggestions. Motor is mounted on 17' Bonita, fuel tank mounted in bow.
