1997 5.7L thunderbolt ignition. Slow crank

By the way when I spoke with Michigan motorz When I was ordering, he asked me what happened to the original engine. And I told him I blew a head gasket. He said was it between cylinder 3 and 5 I said yes. He said a lot of times that is due to thunderbolt ignition timing problems causing detonation or something like that. Ever heard of this? I've had the boat for 16 years and never had any problems with it, but he's right if it's something that I need to address I don't want to screw up the new engine. He said once I get everything ready to go in he would help me make sure that's not an issue. Have you guys heard of this?

When I bought a repower partial engine from them in 2016 they had a hard on for the TB system and were pushing me towards a Delco est. I wanted the TB so I wouldnt have to splice my harness for the delco, which ultimately they provided a new take off TB dizzy and module, which has worked flawlessly since 2016.

You would see detonation signs on piston tops if you had it. If you verify initial and total advance you will have no issue. The TB is a very good system when properly set up . Have yet to see one over advance but MM sees more engines than I do. I wouldnt worry about it
