Pop the hood and look down where the shift cable hooks up to the shifter lever, thats where the interrupt switch is located.
They are known to get gummed up and have the plunger stick.

On the spark tester, set the gap to 7/16th inch, it should jump with a blue snap, yellow is fail.
Compression is ok, maybe could use a dose of seafoam to even them out.
See the sticky files (Top sectret file) for details.

Yeh thats it. Follow the wires and try disconnecting the bullet connectors.
If it doesn't change anything reconnect it and move along...

It could also be stuck in SLOW due to a bad temp sensor or temp sensor wire touching a spark plug wire.
Disconnect the port temp tan colored wire, see if spark returns.
If yes, replace temp sensor.
If no, probably powerpack but you need a DVA to be certain or take a edgykated gamble.

Follow these tests.

Ok, disconnected the port side temp switch, got fire to the plug, but very weak. tested all 3 plugs, all had spark, but not much, luckily, as I was holding the plug wire as my wife was turning over the engine, gave myself a slight shock, but not much to write home about. Given this new information, do you think it's the power pack? I would test the power pack, but not really in the market to purchase a DVA for this task.

What are your thoughts?

ok, i found the thread that shows how to make the DVA adapter, so i ordered the diode, cap, and resistor online, should be here in a few days, then i'll see what's broken and report back.

Ok, I've put together what I think is a DVA based on the schematics I've found on this site. Here is a link to my finished DVA, I haven't tested it yet, I did review the link provided earlier in this thread but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Please provide feedback on my DVA, anything to make it better would be helpful.

Ok, I've tried testing the power pack using the DVA, but I am not sure if the DVA is even working properly. Can anybody instruct me on how to test this device?

Thanks in advance...

Ok, I guess I am not sure of the process to test the power pack. Do I need to have the multimeter connected to the DVA which is in turn grounded on the black and touching the bare plug end of the power pack? Or can I just have the DVA connected and get the reading after I am done turning over the engine? So, I guess, is this my process?
A:
1. Red end of DVA into stator power pack connector
2. Black end of DVA grounded to the motor
3. Turn over the engine
4. Check the volts/ohms using the multimeter
or B:
1. Red end of DVA into stator to power pack connector
2. Black end of DVA grounded to the motor
3. Red lead of multimeter to red output of DVA
4. Black lead of multimeter to black output of DVA
3. Turn over the engine
4. Check the volts/ohms using the multimeter

Seriously, have you tried starting it with the choke closed? I have not seen anybody even type this. The choke on my grandpas Johnson is not labeled at all! We found this out the hard, long way. Find it and use it when starting the engine. Sounds too simple, but is often the case. If not, good luck anyways.
