Here is a pic of the rectifier on my motorDo you see that part on your motor ?------Is it still the original powerhead ?-----Or the 88 HP model swapped in ?

The batteries are brand new and almost all the wiring has been redone and cleaned up. Do you have a link for this? Part #? How are these installed in the circuit? Thanks!Rectifiers do not limit current, at least your rectifier will not limit the 6A max charging rate. Therefore, I do not think a new one will help the issue. Of course, when installing it, you may inadvertently clean the connections, which can help.
If you really want to limit the current, and you can find a high amp Zener diode with a 13-14V limit, that could fix you up. Alternatively, someone may be able to recommend a voltage regulator, from a Harley or something...
I thought the same thing but the serial numbers match on the block and the midsection. According to the parts diagram for this model it should have a voltage regulator. Can you tell from the picture that it is missing? or is there not a place to mount one? Is there another way to regulate the voltage?Maybe powerhead is not original.----Serial # on block the same as the midsection ?
