My engine started acting up a few weeks back. I thought it was bad fuel from one of the gas stations from previous incidents. Anyway, that wasn't the case.
Beginning of the day, the engine runs really good for about 5 miles, then it starts hesitating really bad and just looses power and then I can't ever get it back on plane again. First thing I checked was spark. Top CDM wasn't giving any spark, easy fix, replace it, go back on the water, same thing. Check spark again, now the 2nd one wasn't firing and when I check the 3rd again, I noticed a cracked wire, so I replaced the other 2 CDMs. Thinking the problem was resolved, went back on the water and it runs sweet again, I'm smiling and sure enough it does that same thing again. This time at slow idle, it dies, and it's nearly impossible to get the engine started again. I tried the trick of spraying gas into the carb to see if it was fuel related and it didn't do anything. No idea where to go from here. Can it be a bad stator or powerpack? How can I check these?
Thanks
