Odd. My lil bro has an '01 19' Stingray with the 4.3. And that thing runs every bit of 53 or 54 mph with a light load. They call it the "Z plane" hull btw. Smoke any boat in it's class with comparable power.

I totally believe you and expect that performance level once the carburetor is working right. And assuming that the 4.3l block out of a Blazer is truly comparable to the Mercruiser block.
How does your brothers boat do at pulling skiers, tubes and wake boarders?

The only prop that came with the boat is a 17". We are at 4700' in elevation so I will have to do some testing once the boat is running properly.

Got the Stingray back on the water Friday. After removing the carb and going thru it with a new carb kit the boat ran much better. It definitely drives different than the Bayliner. On a hard turn the Stingray seem to slip sideways on the water. Not a lot but I can feel it. It also cavitates at the prop a lot more on the corners. Trim is much more sensitive than on the Bayliner. The Stingray has a hydrofoil on the outdrive, not sure how this is affecting the handling and will test on vs. off when weather warms up. The 17" prop is trashed and only gets the boat up to about 35mph. Temp gauge seems to function but the fuel gauge is not working and the trim gauge seems to be off. Some new fuel, more tuning and a good prop should bring engine up to full operation. Now that I know it runs it is time to go back to the interior.

Hey old thread with no updates…I just bought the same boat (but a 2000) and found this thread when searching for restoration info…did you ever finalize the interior etc?
