Just rebuild the engine, rebuilt carb and converted to petrotonix electronic ignition with flame thrower coil. I have a hesitation if i throttle to quick and then at top end there is a miss that occasional happens sporadically. I know when I first put the petronix ignition on it wouldn't run at top end at all cause I had the pick up for the distributor wired in on the coil which had the 6 volt resistor wire coming off the solenoid. I wired the distributor up to a 12 V power source and helped dramatically except for this issue. I still have the coil wired up to the 6V resistor wire and I think my problem is the coil needs the 12V but I am afraid if I put 12V on it then it might be too much for the ESA. I did the fix for the ESA with the diodes and resistors, will this keep the ESA from burning up?

Ayuh,.... Sounds more like a fuel delivery issue,....

I'd be lookin' at rebuildin' the Carb....

Re: 2.3 OMC hesitation / miss

The carb was rebuilt / re manufactured by national carburetor this winter. Was even engine tested before they shipped in back to me. Everything was replaced including choke and seats for all the levers. I would hate to think its a carb issue already. It seems like a spark issue when it has the sporadic miss, almost like the cylinder didn't fire at all rather than stumble from loss of fuel. It also only does it when I try to run WOT as long as i back down off her she just purrs and if I throttle easy she take off and plane. When I wired up the ignition first time and tried it it would miss, sputter and die out until i put the 12V on the distributor, now its like a weakend version of what it was doing before that is why I think this is where my problem lies, I am just hesitant on putting 12V on the coil so I don't fry the ESA
