Best not to post names, because they are not here to defend themselves. I stand by my previous comments based on what you said happened. If they do not have the tools, they should not be in business

It is not my intent to discredit or bash anyone, especially if they cannot defend them self... I’m only going off the phone call today. He mentioned the 2 different types on tools they have to scan but I don’t remember the name.... I will gather some more facts and get back to try and clarify if I was misleading at all

Only reason the MEFI wouldn't connect is if the harness or connector has issues. It is rare for a harness to break a connection but can happen.

Meet the mech today. Found out that the injectors were sent out to be tested and they don’t do it in house. I looked at their computers that they attempted to connect to my data port and physically watched them connect them. They failed to link. So I sent my ecm into bob at obd diagnostics.. if it comes back In Working order I’m not sure what to do. I have the cost of this new long block and install already paid. Part of me wants them to make it right, but another part Says I should go somewhere else.. if I go somewhere else I don’t wanna pay for something that should already be done... uneasy feeling really...

If I remember correctly (did not go back a re-read) Bob already tested the ECM and it did work. So if your local guys scanner does not connect, the first thing to do is to ring out the connections between the DLC connector to the ECM.

Ecm is in the mail. If it comes back good which it should .. I think it’s time for a lengthy conversation with the owner. I agree process of elimination to determine problem.....

ECM is back and checked out in working order by bob. the mech still is unable to hook up through the DLC. he can put the ecm into base mode through the DLC.
I believe it its timed in base mode at 8 degrees BTDC. It still is having the idle issue where it wants you to give it a lil throttle in neutral. also at speed under load will seem to miss and occasionally backfire and fall on its face. some times while throttling up it will miss and fall on its face. he pulled the plugs and all were black.

any ideas?

Fuel supply is controlled by the ECM with input from the MAP. The MAP sensor tells the ECM how much vacuum there is. You should have a 1 BAR (14.5 psi) MAP sensor.

mech still is unable to hook up through the DLC.

Would sure like to know why it cannot be read. The VP uses the same connection as Merc and reads MEFI 1 thru 4. Should have adapter 94005. Can you find another dealer to scan?

Just spoke with the mech. he said that they just swapped an identical motor to mine to a outboard for another guy and they are going to hook up his ecm Mefi3 and see if they can link their comp to it. he is also a lil stumped as to why it will not link as it links up with other projects in the shop.. im standing by for another call later today with an update

If it will not connect to new ECM that could be connected to previous boat, then back to post 66 and I will feel much better about your mech

Ok hooked up to computer now, mech bypassed the harness.. same result as far as running. Keeps throwing a map code. This is with my original computer as well as the loaner mifi.. new map also throws a code... if I have to replace my wire harness any idea on where I can source one? My harness my be bad as I had issues with the ground for fuel pump relays ....

Code 33 map high is either and open circuit or low vacuum

ok figured out the code 33 map high. the line that connects to the rear of the throttle body wasn't connected... it appear to be at a glance but it wasnt reading the proper vacuum. once that line was fixed the diacom as well as the quicksilver digital diagnostic gave the appropriate map reading.. around 14.5... before it was reading 30 same as the baro reading.

With that, the motor doesn't exhibit the previous issue of falling on its face when you try to give it throttle to get on plane.. between 2-3000 rpm. but it is still not running smooth. in gear maybe pushing 5 knots it seems to fluctuate rpm + or - 2-300 and surge a lil... at idle sometimes it wants to increase rpm to maybe 1100. when i would shut the motor off and restart it fires and sets to 600 as it should.. but hen out of no where it jumps to a higher rpm.

On the computer at wide open throttle under load it was only reading 60% throttle.

ran out of time on the h20 today. mech is going to dig in further tomorrow.

even though its not running figuring out the map issue was huge in my opinion.... only a matter of time before we get it...
