That was his thought as well, unfortunately we didn’t bring either hex or Allen’s can’t remember as it was a long day to replace that sensor and see if anything changes.. when we got back to the shop he was pulling plugs and going to replace the tps.. prolly get a call tomorrow am with another dyno run to see where it stands...
thanks for the input cris
cool thing about this whole process is I keep learning more and more.. I luv it.. not sure what I like more attempting to solve this issue or trying to get the SoCal bluefin to bite... both r cool in my book
TPS was replaced an ran at intervals for the better part of 3/4 of the day on the dyno. Boat was cleaned spotless and even a few items were repaired that did not pertain to my new motor. I’m taking it out tomorrow am for a few spins.. hopefully this thread will be done.. I’m very thankful for the wealth of knowledge and willingness to help guys work through their problems... outstanding forum..
Well. not quite the day i was looking for. The boat started out great, fired right up and i idled out of the bay. It initially jumped up on plane and ran well i cruzed around at about 2500 rpm 27 knots with no noticeable issues. I then brought the boat back to idle and sat for a few min. The next time i gave it throttle it seemed to stumble to get on plane but it did not fall on its face. As i increase the throttle past 2200 rpm it would stumble and not want to go past 2200 or it would not run well or increase speed at all. i tried this a few times with the same result. so back on the trailer it went.
On the ride home i was reminded that today was not my day as i lost a wheel bearing and had to pull over as smoke came from my hub. found a parking lot, unloaded the trailer, off to the parts store for the repair.
Once i got the boat home i went to flush the motor and it would not start without giving it throttle in neutral. it seemed to idle ok after that at 600 rpm.. when i gave it throttle in neutral to about 1100 rpm it would fluctuate rpm + or - 200 rpm and didn't sound right.
Back to the shop i go...
What could it be? everything is new besides the complete harness....
well i checked resistance from the tps to the j2 terminal and its good so no need to replace the wires and connectors.. any idea why it would throw the 22 code?
I'm running up empty, been look for code 22 with VP and unable to find.
You rang out the connections and their good, so signal is getting to where it needs to be. There has to be something with the new TPS or with supplied voltages (5V) or ECM. Otherwise I'm out past my area of ideas
Looking at the TPS connector in the picture I suspect that the one of terminals is not right.
If you have the old TPS sensor, break it apart to get the terminal pins. (your creating a test tool). Using a pin, insert it into the terminal cavity. There should be a drag indicating a good connection. If you insert the pin and it feels loose then you found your problem.
The link has a good picture of the connector
Ok currently in the dyno, not throwing any codes. Fuel pressure is constant at 28 psi when we rev it up to about 3300 rpm the injectors momentarily stop firing the spray again but it will not take throttle past 3300
Have to admit this one has beat me, I have no ideas left other then it needs a new engine harness. ECM checked out twice and passed both times. ECM from another motor also messes up on your motor, it has to be the harness, but where, I have no idea
