2000 70hp Johnson quit

Maybe my first post was too lengthy.

Engine only shows life directly after pumping up the fuel bulb, then doesn't stay running.

What happens when an assistanrt operates the manual pump ?-----What happens when you push in the key ( 2 stroke engine ) momentarily ?

Just had my assistant pump while I turned it over. It fired up for about 5 seconds and then no more. He couldn't keep the bulb hard and the carbs seem to be pretty much covered with fuel.
