I recently fried the EMM in my 75hp ficht. DFI says 99.5% of the time its a cooling issue/overheat. I removed the cooling tubes and blew thru them, they seemed very clear. Maybe just a electronics failure!?!?! Anyhow, I need to know what the best way to be sure the entire cooling system is flushed and free of debris so this does not happen again after I get the EMM back from being repaired. (900.00 to fix). Before this happened, the engine was "peeing" just fine. Continued to do so even while running in SLOW mode.

After you get the EMM back, start the mtr up and pull the cooling lines off of it and check to make sure water is flowing. Just blowing through the lines can sometimes be a " fooler ". Been their and done that. But that's another story.

Looks more like an electronic short than a cooling failure.

Does anyone have a diagram of the cooling system?

That looks like the voltage/ regulator burnt. My guess is it will come back with a list of repairs and the volt/reg will be one of them.

But, if the EMM got hot from lack of cooling, the regulator could burn up. Remember the v/r's on the v6's back in the mid 90's that would burn up. Then OMC changed the cooling fins on them and the prob seemed to go away.

Installed and test ran at the landing for 10 minutes, then out on the lake at varying speeds. Seems to have a bit more snap at low end, but runs good! THANKS to those who helped.
