This is the elbow Im talking about, i removed the two ss bolts but just an oval black bracket came out, not the elbow, I wiggle it a little but nothing happens, still in place and decided to leave it alone and install the bracket back again..

There were two styles of thru fittings to connect the lube bottle. The early style was brass and used a nut to secure. The later style used the E clip and a quick connect on the inside

Had to remove both batteries and both pvc boards from sides to have some clear access from port and starboard. it usually looks like this with seat bench removed only...

but now looks like this.... well seat bench is right there..

to install the e-clip I think that from starboard side working over the starter is the easiest way to deal with, this is without removing any steering parts, again. only the water pickup hose was removed.

I recall someone tied a fishing line to the E-clip....Maybe you could tie the clip just to the height of the fitting so it's always in close proximity of the area the clip needs to go around while trying to get it on.

With all that heavy surface rust on the front of the engine may indicate that you have a leaking circulating water pump which tends to come out of the little bottom weep hole of the pump in-turn spraying water all over the front area due to the turning engine pulleys/belt.

Oh and I'm pretty sure you're going to need a new outside hose too being it looks short/cut.

yeap! I saw that trick you mentioned in another thread, I will post pics of it while tied. Actually I have to wait a few more hrs until the part arrive to my dealer. So I have time to attach it now so its ready when fitting arrive

I was wondering why this area looks that rusty, maybe because this boat was dry stock before at a Marina, well thats was I thought, but you have a point about leaking water pum,p. Will put an eye on next time I muff the outdrive, By now I didnt see any water leak, but will look closer.

Yes maybe 2 or three feet, hope that connector works, thinking on installing zip ties then cover it with shrinkable just to protect it

Well guys the job has been completed here the last pics of this thread.

here is the new fitting with a zip tie and a silicone tape i used just to protect it, recommend it...

tumblr_oynoffMYwt1wg5vyfo1_1280.jpg

this silicone tape really is good, it will shrink all thee way down and withstand saltwater, oil, gas amd more...

After fighting for over an hr and playing fishsing the clip its finally gone into place... THANKS for the fishing string idea, this will save your life... and a lots of e-clips.

hope this pics helps fellow boater around. Thanks to all replied in my thread. Again the fishing line trick was the best....

PD: Only missing was a 7/16 socket that flew away to a "never find me again" spot when doing the water pick up bolts, still somewhere around the engine...

Nice job and thanks for the close-up photos as these images will surely help many boaters out in the future as these plastic (< glass filled composite material) oil reservoir bulkhead fitting connectors do tend to break over time or while just working within the general area/s (< inside or outside of the boat) being they are a sensitive material to forces.
