If you adjust the idle when warm, it will then idle too slow when cool so I would begin by looking at other things first. Has any work or "fiddling" been done on the engine prior to this condition. Did this just suddenly occur or did you just acquire the boat and it has always been like this? Give us something to go on!

In that case, disconnect the throttle and shift cables at the engine and start it up. If it now idles normally, the cables need adjusting. Warm idle speed should be about 700 - 750 in gear, in the water. Adjust the idle speed screw to lower the idle. However, it is rare that idle speed would be that far off on a 25 hour engine unless somebody mucked with things. I feel a full link& sync is probably in order. You need a manual for that as its far too detailed to go into here.

I would agree with Silvertip on the manual - get the OEM specific to your engine rather than an aftermarket one. Fiddlin can easily get you in a worse spot than you're in now.

Idle spec should be I believe 650 +- 100. Silvertip is as always correct. I agree. Seantim, we are trying to discourage you from messing with the carbs. You will likely make maters worse. It is highly unlikely a new outboard (which this essentially is) has carbs out of adjustment. We suspect something much more simple such as poor cable or linkage adjustment.

An OEM BRP service manual is readily available on ebay for your 90. I have the same outboard (the 2005) and bought a factory service manual for peanuts.

When you get this outboard running right, it will be fantastic.
