if you have confirmation that a EMM is needed they can be repaired.

how did you conlude the EMM was at fault ?

what is even more critical is knowning why it blew !
Flaky b+
from loose battery posts , wing nuts, intermittent B+ from the PDP, even loose fuses etc... are all potential EMM killers. From what I read your EMM isn't totally dead

Changing EMM $$$ or repairs (?) will not solve the problem so knowing the cause is as just important. ...

this company offers EMM repairs see Hardware Care seems to have a good reputation for service based on comments on the ETEC user board.

up to you ... btw does the engine run without dying if run at idle. If it does run ok I suspect a sensor detected problem is the cause which is why EV diagnostics is so importent to peek inside the EMM fault log !

have you considered investing in EV diagnostic to find out what faults have popped up to cause a shut-dow. EV diag is less that 70$$ in the US so imho it would seem a first and cheaper good step for you to confirm things.

EMM wise my 2005 ETEC uses the same basic technology and works perfectly. EV diag works on FICHT and ETEC

Evinrude Diagnostics V5 is backwards compatible. This means it will work with all the models listed below.
EVINRUDE E-TEC. G1 (Legacy)
15HO, 25HP, 30HP, 40HP, 50HP, 55HP, 60HP, 65HP, 75HP, 90HP, 115HP, 130HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP, 250HP, 300HP and all E-TEC HO Models.
FICHT.
75HP, 90HP, 115HP, 135HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP, 250HP.

DI.
100HP, 115HP, 135HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP, 250HP.

and... btw EMM on ETEC are known to be sensive to RF generated when openly testing sparks on sparkplugs...instead of the recommend in-line spark testers

that said seeing your jumping sparks in the video !! they are surely strong RF noise generators possibly messing up the EMM logic circuits.

Open sparking in your video must be found and fixed since your FICHT EMM may simply be reacting to strong RF signals . did you try suggested cleaning of surfaces and application die-electric grease on HV connection points ?

hopefully the EMM is just reacting and not critically wounded.

Ok took it to the evinrude repair shop here in San Diego. It just keeps getting worse. Needs emm and there’s 35 compression on 1 cylinder and 54 on the other.

Time to get a new used outboard? I found a 2001 full compression evinrude FICHT with lower hours and it was allegedly gone through and spark plugs set etc.

The guy that would be installing it is a pretty reputable guy in the area in regards to outboard repairs and buying selling outboards etc.

I'm not sure why anyone personally would buy a ficht outboard. Now if you have one and you hope to fix some small to medium issue and extend its life so be it but.....really?

Buy a carbureted older one and find a good one. Dime o dozen.
