ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIREDWhen posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. Would love better all around performance...but really need a bit more hole shot for wakeboarding and skiing.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum. Mercury, aluminum, dont know the model...but the serial on the side is 832850A45p19 mercury.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required). dont know but based on the serial above i assume its a 19 pitch. 3 blade aluminum.
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful) 56mph at a hair over 3k rpm. Is that low? this was based on the built in speedometer...not gps. Wondering if im maximizing the engine.
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP...mercruiser 5.0 220hp alpha 1 drive. 2006.
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight...2006 tahoe Q7i Alpha one, 20.6 feet...weight is around 3200lbs.

Ive had suggestions of a five blade...four blade...and three blade. Id love to get a faster to plane speed for pulling wakeboarders. id also like to get better control at lower speeds...and better grab in turns. the boat tends to turn high on its side making everyone in the boat feel like we are flipping over in hard turns. Ive heard a better prop will hold better.

Im also considering smart tabs...do those accomplish the same task as those $50 dollar whale Tales?

Thanks for any and all advice! Oh yeah...and id really prefer a stainless steel prop. Thanks! For

Welcome and excellent job getting your numbers.
Unfortunately your numbers are so goofy they don't make sense.I'm pretty sure your tach is wrong.
at 3000 with 10% slip your speed would be about 30 mph. At 56 your rpm would be about 5600.4800 is the max suggested.
Maybe could be that much with a 19" prop but slow hole shot is troublesome.
Your tach may be set wrong Or defective. We can be more sure of your speed with a gps. Some cells have a gps app.
There may be a switch on the back of the tach ;note its position and operate it a few timers to clean the contacts.
Maybe borrow a shop tach. You may need more prop but we need to get the correct rpm and a gps speed first to tell where we are at.

I have a 2011 tahoe 216Wt with the 5.0 mpi and I use a 17 pitch ss prop.; my lower unit ratio is 1.47:1. I had it rebalanced and the cupping checked after buying it new to correct a slight vibration due to one blade being slightly heavier the the other two. Now, I am running 4800 RPM's with three people, 25 gallons of gas, 100 pounds of gear and it is going 49-50 MPH--(54 on the factory in dash speedometer) depending upon water surface, temperature, etc. It is a basic Mercury Vengeance propeller and it works good on my boat (holds in the corners, planes quickly, and makes a great wake for wakeboarding). I would like to try a four blade though.

Re: 2006 Tahoe Q7i 5.0 Alpha 1 prop suggestions

I'm interested in the Mercury High Five prop because I've read some great reviews. Looking on Mercury's website...they recommend my boat use a 19p High Five. My local boat shop has a brand new High Five 20p that they will sell me for their cost, which is $310. They say the prop has been sitting around for awhile but has never been used. I'm wondering how big of a difference will it be using a 20p prop compared to the 19p as recommended? Will I have problems with hitting the rev limiter at WOT? Any other thoughts or concerns I should think about?

I'm not a high five expert I do believe they do better on a powerful boat. Intended for performance.
Perhaps someone has more details.I do wonder why the high five is available at cost. Perhap[s its just the cost.
Don't buy anything untill you get your numbers confirmed.

The High 5 is a great prop. See if you can test it out before you buy it. If you buy it post your results I would like to see how it performs.
