Re: 2008 Lund Rebel SS

If you are speaking of a 1625 Rebel XL, I have had one for about a month now. Bought mine with a 60 4 stroke Merc. It will run in the low to mid 30s and cruise about 26 or so. Not a bad boat for the $. However, it is an entry level boat with an attractive price. That being said, some things are not up to the same quality as some of the other models. Not a full guage package, seats are not the quality of the other lunds, no spray rail and an unpainted bottom. Still a decent boat for the $. Ride before you buy. I had to add a Stingray stabilizer to mine to keep the bow down when coming out of the hole and it seems it may be wet in a breeze in rough water with the bow trimmed down. If I had it to do all over again, I probably would have paid a little more and gone to the Explorer 1675 with a 90 hp. If the things I have described are not an issue with you, it's not a bad deal. Good luck and make a good informed decision.

Re: 2008 Lund Rebel SS

bry,

I bought a new 2008 Lund Rebel 1625 XL in April and like Capt C. upgraded to the 60hp 4-stroke Merc motor. I'm not on real big lakes and it gets me where I want to go in good time. It's a great entry level boat. As part of the deal, I got a 3rd and 4th seat, spare tire and carrier.

I didn't notice the lack of a splash rail until someone pointed it out. Not having one hasn't been a problem except one day while in three foot waves and lot's of wind; got a little wet until I used the wind to work for me.

I'd say it's an extremely nice 2-person boat. Three people is a bit cramped.

I've added an on board charger, 12V receptacle, an hour meter and had the dealer install a Sony Marine stereo and speakers a few weeks ago. Looking back, I should've had these in the package when I bought it. Also, the stock Lowrance X50DS is pretty lame. It picks up alot of false readings. I'm planning on a Lowrance 522iGPS when I find an end of season deal and move the X50DS to the bow and ducer to the trolling motor to use when I'm in the trolling seat. These all should've been in my package purchase.

The only "issue" I have with the boat is the flukey gas gauge. The tank is in the floor and is only 4" deep so the float doesn't really move enough to give you good readings at the gauge. As the boat trims up & down, the gauge moves with it (due to the depth of the tank). You almost need to punch it out of the hole to move the gauge and once trimmed level, you get a decent reading on the fuel level. I'd say I'm on my 2nd full tank of gas, and have just about 30 hours on the engine. In my mind, the 4-stroke motor sips the gas!

I think it's a great boat! I went with the red option instead of the black and get a positive comment almost every time I'm at the launch or dock. I just wish I'd added all the afore-mentioned accessories at the time of purchase and negotiated on the package instead of adding them now.

One final opinion........ New boat sales are very slow this year; it's great time to get an excellent deal on a full package.

Re: 2008 Lund Rebel SS

I was looking at this boat well because its closer to what i want to spend. I was interested in larger boat with more power. Right now im running starcraft fishmaster 170 and it dwarfs the lund. Im convinced my boat is way better. I did however like the black paint job and silver bottom very cool but still to small. I wish someone made a decent alum boat for say 15grand with 90hp 2 stroke maybe a evinrude but could be dreaming lol. Id like to see how 1750 lund compares its a copy of my boat.
