I really like that you used a pad of some kind to separate the wood and alum. I actually did the exact same thing myself today when i anchored my stringers down!

Besides separation I also tried to reduce rubbing (since they are just laying on top of them). Well, I also tried to increase the area of contact, so the pressure is spread and I thought that pad will do the job.

Ok, here is a quick update.
I have finished cutting all the wood. In the process I had to make cutouts for latches. Here is the template:

I have used straight router bit with bearing on the top to cut out all the latches:

Here are all the pieces ready to be carpeted:

During carpeting I have realized couple things - first that I really hate carpeting glue (2 days for pulling it out of my bodily hair ...... no fun at all). And second that the marine carpet was 100% right decision. I would have had a horrible time bending the thick garage flooring to the plywood And I had to make several adjustments to the wood in the process (to compensate the thickness of the carpet), so the idea of using spray on box liner did not work.

Here is the tally of expenses plus hours spent so far.
1) Battery Master Switch - 6 dollars at Princess Auto
2) Screws SS for latches - 8 bucks.

Hours spent so far - 48.

Things left to do:
1) Install all carpeted parts
2) Finish wiring
3) Find better plug for trolling motor (household one did not work - not suitable for thicker wires)
4) Install additional flotation foam under the floors.
5) install seats, fishfinder and downriggers
6) Go fishing

Hey, just wondering how the boat is coming. I have the same one and I love the ideas. Can't wait to see the final project!

Almost done. Will post pictures over the weekened.

Had to buy few more electrical things:
1) Had to buy 2 switches - one for voltmeter, so i can turn it on and see the voltage and another for cigarette lighter outlets (appeared taht it has a built in light, so i did not want it to drain the battery). 10 bucks for both.

2) Had to get fet more electrical connectors - 20 bucks.

So far project consumed close to 70 hours.

Splashed it yesterday and it was great. I like the room inside. Feels like it has more room inside now, because everything is not sliding to the middle of the boat due to sloped floor.

Caught some nice pickerel in the middle of the hot-hot-hot day yesterday, so it was an icing on the cake!
