Last Mohican,
Glad to hear you got the electrical problem corrected.
Have fun at the lake.
I'm still sanding, sanding and more sanding. :p:(:D

Re: 25' 1976 Sleek Craft Ambassador Project

Took the boat down to an annual gathering at Plowmans Creek yesterday. There were no mechanical issues. Time to move on to the interior. After many suggestions from my seat thread I decided to build the seat frames out of MDO plywood. I have picked up some materials and will start construction soon.

I am going to keep the layout pretty true to original with some minor changes to the jump seats. I found pics of a rear seat layout I like in an updated Carlson CV-23. My plan is to cover the seats in diamond stitched vinyl to match the existing cabin interior as close as possible. Then lay the seats out the same as original but change the rear seat layout to resemble the pic of the CV-23. Anyone see any issues with this?

This is the original layout.

I like the way the rear seats are in this CV-23

Last Mohican,
I think that will be a really cool look. I wish my boat was suited to that too. Glad to hear you didn't have any mech issues.
Take Care.

Any updates on the boat? I'm thinking about going to look at the twin outdrive in Stillwater, the guy put his add back up. He was asking way too much for it....now he has it posted as a "will trade for motorcycle, hot rod ect". It would be interesting to have a twin version.....but does that sound like a maintenance mess? Two of everything!

Hey Bobby, No progress lately on this one. I kinda switched gears and worked on my little Rebel a little bit. I am actually taking the Ambassador to the end of season BBQ today. This will be the last trip to the lake for the season. Probably winterize both sleds this week then it's on to building the interior.

I'd love to have a dual drive Ambassador. There is a guy in CA or AZ that has a dual jet he is restoring. That thing is straight out of Miami Vice (TV series not the movie).

Just watched the video and the Dirty ***** name idea was so funny I spit up my coffee! I've always liked Sleek's, and the one from Pat's fiberglass is unbelievable! You've made great progress with this boat, and I look forward to your progress!

Peace!

Thanks Bear. It's been a hoot so far.

Paul, It will be worked on through the winter. It just won't be going to the lake. I'll post up pics as soon as the progress continues. ;)

I haven't made any progress on this one in a while. I kinda got distracted with my 18' Rebel. I have the wood and tools to get started I just have not been motivated to do it. I need to get to crackin. Spring is going to be here before ya know it. The rebel is to a point I'm waiting on other people. I'll be back on the Ambassador soon I promise. LOL

Shouldn't be a problem. Plan is still to have her ready for spring. Had some time today but the weather pretty much put the ol kabosh on any work. Suppose to be record setting cold here this week. :( I know for most of you guys a couple inches of snow ain't nothing but for us here in Dallas it crippling. LOL. I don't car who you are temps in the teens when it's wet outside is miserable.

Hiya Matt hey its all good...the cold slows most everyone down.... Im hiding out in my garage alot these days welding and grinding...(offroad go-kart project)

Hey theres a really cool looking ambassador like 1/2 mile from the house we moved into 4 months back....I think its the 26ft version of your ambassador.....its uncovered and gets snow rain in it...shame shame! nice looking dual axle trailer etc....has some big added on windshield from a regular type boat....detracts from the looks for sure...anyways...I'll try and sneak a pic of it and all the 70s/80s corvettes the guy has wasting away in his yard :) wonder if he would part with it????????? if he was and it still had a solid floor in it...I may be tempted! has mercury outdrive...cant tell if its a bravo or alpha...
we could use the cash in selling our sleek to help buy a house... get thiers cheap and fix it up for summer? :)

Not a bad ideal I have seen it used in deck boats and look factory.

We are going to go to the local Bass Pro and see what they have. I think they carry Wise. They probably won't have all the pieces I want but they should some in stock so I can see colors. As much as I want the original vintage look it sure would be nice to fast track this interior.
