2 maybe and on clean gas from the tank?!?? .....

what i didnt mention, is after tomorrow both Brett and I are on 'reading break' which means an entire week off to work on the boat!

Still trying to figure out the best solution to a lid for the tank... im leaning towards getting a piece of aluminium to close it up with, drilling new holes for the pickup and sender...

What sort of sealer should i use to seal it on? 5200? haha

ITS ALIVE!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH The timing needs to be corrected(slight surge at idle...) , but its running! Revs beautifully!

It's good to see you're taking the "reading break" seriously. Oh screw it you're studying to be an engineer. This is exactly the sort of stuff you SHOULD be doing.

I use things in my work every day that I learned messing around with old cars.

haha, thats how i justify it too

i loosened the dizzy and turned it abit, and got it running a lot better just by ear, ill break out the timing gun tomorrow and do it properly, it idles nice at about 700 right now
Ran into some issues with bolts breaking on the starboard... so maybe ill get that sorted out tomorrow too... Since the carbs have an angle plate under them from being in an inboard application.. whoever did it was too lazy to get the right hardware and just bent bolts to work... well thats great until you start taking the carbs off... broke 2 off and decided im loosing the angle plate... so i got it all off, but i need to extract the rest of the bolt, one of which broke off flush(go figure!)

It got really cold really fast and i decided to call it a night!... the 41 was the temp in Fahrenheit at the time of the vid... it was reading 32 when i packed it in..., way to cold to be messing with cold steel engine blocks...

Got quite a bit done today, first task was to finish mounting the carb on the starboard... tried to drill an extractor into the broken bolt with no luck... so i pulled out the dremel and made a slot in it... it unscrewed! Then i found some new SS bolts and bolted the carb down

Then, i wanted to do an oil change, because of all the water in cylinders issue prior, the oil had gone rather milky. Everything went smooth untill i came to the oil filter, which for our engines are both mounted remotely at the front of the engine. This is very handy on the port engine where the normal location is down in the bilge on the far side, but for the starboard it was just unnecessary extra stuff... So i ripped it off

Now, it was very handy to have the old engines still kicking around,because i had to get the right mount for filters

After that it was a plug and play job

Soo much more room now!

Then the starboard engine scared me, i was just cranking it over thinking i was priming the fuel system(no throttle or pumpage), and VROOOOM, it ran....idle and all.... ran down to check the exhaust and it was dry....so i had to shut it off......Last season when we had the starboard engine running for a short time, im not sure if you notice in the vid, but minimal water was coming out the starboard exhaust compared to the port. This was due to a later found kink in the pickup hose.... turns out it wasnt enough to keep the impeller in good shape...

time for a new impeller

i really am not sure, Factory it was only powered by 305's, so the 350's are definitely an upgrade...

im guessing it will top around 35-40knots....

Anyways, i sorted out some electrical issues today, I couldnt understand how i had 3 large power lines running to the bridge, yet could not find a single reliable 12volt source on the bridge besides the engines systems... Turns out my 'Bridge' breaker switch isnt working...:facepalm:... Yay for having working blowers, VHF, and manual bilge pump control again!

Then i started digging into the cooling system on the port engine, as it seemed to be running a tad hot for my liking...

Found a 180* automotive thermostat in it

Going to get correct 140* one tomorrow

I think the starboard engine feels bad for giving me so much grief with the water issue... i cant turn the key and have it NOT start now... Cant wait to get its new impeller so i can run it up Went out this morning, had a low of -2 last night, was curious more then anything after yesterdays surprise start, and sure enough, one pump of the throttle, and she roared to life... shut it off shortly after because its only got closed cooling hooked up, but what a great sound... haha

Nice job on everything. Did your boat originally have mufflers? I'm thinking of getting rid of mine and going straight hose the way you've got yours set up.

The exhaust originally went through the legs, but there were many problems with trying to make it go through the legs again. First it would have meant all new risers AND manifolds, which would have run a small fortune. It would have meant new exhuast Y-yokes for the legs, which run about $800 EACH. And it never would have sounded nearly as good....

We scored all 4 exhaust tips on Ebay for $100 and its one of the few things that has never let us down....

It took quite the drill to do 4 3" holes through 2" of new wood and 1/2" of fiberglass....

It was freaken cold today They are calling for snow to start any minute!

Because of that i was moving kinda slow... I did some wiring work on the Starboard engine to make way for the steering arm, and i pulled the cabin door out and reglued the vinyl to it, im going to paint it and the back cabin wall with some Marine white enamel.

I must confess I'm envious of your wide assortment of clamps. They're expensive. I only have 3-4 crappy ones from Home Depot.

well, with a good 15-20cm of the white stuff on the ground, i didnt want to do anything outside, so i cranked the heat in the shop and gave the door its first coat of paint.... looks way better!

we have been breaking records here for coldest temps!

luckily a few days ago i predicted this, and considering the engines dont have antifreeze yet...i put this work lamp in the bilge...Its worked so far, another day or 2 until we get out of this cold snap

Meanwhile this cant be great for the leg..... frozen solid, ive kicked it and jumped on it and its still solid...
