Looks great guys. I pulled mine from the back yard out front today. and started waxing and cleaning the tow vehicle. Looking forward to possibly making a fourth trip myself. And yea, where's the cat? I thought he was supervising? lol

Re: 29' Carter Safari

got afew odds and ends done today, we were both tired, and it was soo hot out we didnt get much done.

preped and painted the risers and spacers, and wired up the engines/stern of the boat.

we both have final exams comming up so the progress is going to slow down until the 19th of this month(final day of exams) from there it will be all in everyday to get it done.

New 33C cables, and gauges are now ordered:)

the excavator scared away the cat:p

exams are more important. with out that knowledge, you can't run a good marina, and repair business.

WOW! You guys are impressive.

Matt, back in April you responded to a thread I had about repairs to a houseboat, in it, you gave directions how to get a large boat off a trailer to work on it, the pictures had have gone away, could you repost them or send them to me? Also, what did you make the blocking out of and how did you put them together? Have decided that the weather is good enough now to start work on mine. Thanks in advance.

Any new updates on your boat, it's threads like this that give this old gal hopes. LOL

Hey Matt,

You guys are doing a fantastic job! Keep the posts coming. I just bought the exact same boat about a month ago, and its pretty cool seeing you guys rebuild her. Once you get her out on the water you're going to be thrilled. Handles the ocean extremely well, very solid boat. If you ahve any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Keep up the good work!

 speeence, what hull number boat do you have? I also have a safari (1973 hull #26) It is kind of cool to find another boat close to home. we live in the high desert just before Barstow right off I15. we take our boat out of long beach. have only seen two other boats in person. Look forward to hearing from you. And Matt how is the car coming along? I have not checked the other thread for awhile. Look forward to progress reports. and scratch Howie for us! lol

Re: 29' Carter Safari

well, unfortunatly it will not be done for july first, but we are going to try to get it done as soon as possible. Its all the finiky tiny tasks now, all of which take a fair amount of time, with very little payoff.. water line, fuel line, throttle shift cable replacement, some last wiring, drilling holes for the engine mounts(fun task getting back to them), cleaning up legs(yeah, i know i started it last winter, but its been put on hold), preping the bottom for new bottom paint, making some new alternator brackets(the ones from the engines would not work) and replacing all the window seals in the cabin.

Spence, Welcome to the club! Its a very small group of us, if you read back in this thread a ways you will find some more info on the boats... Also, i think i have already talked to the previous owner of your boat because your avatar looks very familiar........ 'Sally Kay' ?
wonder how many others are out there still? i have about 25 people that i have made contact with who have the same boat.... including the original volvo shop that installed the legs, and a good friend of John Carter. I have sent an email to John aswell, but have not got a reply...

Car is actually making more progress then the boat ATM.... got the new engine in and just waiting on some last parts before i can start it up..

Afubar, we used 2x4 and 2x6 and just some good 3 inch nails in our blocks, more pictures here... http://www.mattswebpage.com/gallery.php?proid=1&p=2
I host all the pictures myself, and it seems that someone keeps hacking my site and adding code to the page that loads the images, i fixed it again now. so probably the pics will load on your thread now aswell...

hopefully we will have some new pics of boat progress soon. I want to make the dash up pretty quick, so i will get some pics of that.

Re: 29' Carter Safari

things have unfortunatly been going really slow, the few things we have done over the last little bit have been some wiring and some minor plumbing.. I am back working full time now, which helps support the boat, but doesnt help finish it..

not pictures of our boat, but here is where i work and the boats future home, took these today well i was getting stuff out for Canada Day tomorrow.. not bad for iphone pics

Re: 29' Carter Safari

Hey guys,

Good to hear there are a few of us out there. My hull number is 27, one after you gypsysoul....And yes matt, the former owner called her the Sally Kay....must be the same boat, too funny. We're renaming her, just haven't come up with a name that grabs us yet.

Gypsy, if you're ever down this way let me know, I'd love to see her.

Keep up the good work matt

Just read through this entire thread.

Pure awesome. You have done a hell of a job. Please keep updating us with information and pictures. This is by far one of the best build threads I've ever read.

Can't wait to hear how it does out in the water!!
