Re: 2nd Try at first boat...Opinions

Burg_fisher,
sorry just went back thru,
this boat on the post is from my marina
not sure if its the one i am thinking of  my memory is bad

but if so i was moored next to it
i had a lil pontoon moored in the cheap seats (500 season, no elec avail) at that time.
the guy that owned it was looking into getting a wakeboard boat with a tower
although i didnt walk around in it it looked to be in great shape full cover etc...

so to revisit that posting i'd check it out.

boat prices here will be on the incline here soon till early august

This guy never replied through E-mail and did not leave a #, will have to shoot him another message.
Prices are not bad there for docking there. Cost an arm and a leg to dock on the lower 3 rivers here!
We were trying to price around in New Eagle and California Pa, around 10 mile creek. May look into the Beaver area as well. Being early in the season tough to get a hold of anyone for information, wait to long spaces are gone.

Kind took a step back from the search was getting frustrating, adding in the same Boats been on CL and other sites. Figure in a few more weeks people will start putting more up as there getting ready for spring.

I'm not particularly fond of any of those. That first one is going to be a real turd with a 115.

first boat--closed bow--no room

second boat--cuddy--wasted space

third boat--that's what I call a sofa boat. A third of useable space taken up with upholstery. A third of usable space taken up with engine box. too much space in the dash boards, etc. Can't drive and look over the windshield, comfortably. Carpet--yuk. Can't be left outdoors. Fragile surfaces. limited function. Inboard/outboard. Not seaworthy.

your budget size says you buy a small boat. Your family size says you need room. maximize open space. Look for low maintenance.

Hey Burgh: when I went an looked through the CL links, I bumped out and looked at some others that were posted. Have you considered this guy? http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/2856773111.html

To be honest, they're kinda' ugly. BUT ... they make nice use of deck space, and that Johnson on the back is a decent vintage. Ad makes it look clean and well cared for (though photos are from a bit back). Can't quite tell what's going on with the deck, but she'd be easy maintenance, center console, OB and the price isn't bad. Viking was a Chris-Craft brand, and if I'm not mistaken fairly well made.

No beauty queen, but might be worth lookin' at.

Maybe you can talk her into this one...

21.5 Glastron center console - $6200 (Upper Burrell)

150hp Johnson 2 stroke: 15hp mariner 2stoke kicker with front controls: Tee-nee dual axle trailer: Expansive fishing gear package (Way to much to list) Many new upgrades

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/2826182923.html

I can't tell from the pics, but it might have seating in the bow.

That 16' center console deckboat that southkogs posted does look interesting. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. It might be small for you, but if it was closer, I'd be checking it out for me.

Now this here would make for a fun fishing boat with a little room for just the family. Will have to inquire and see what kind of info i can get about it.

Some center consoles have as much family seating as a Dual Console/Bowrider. Some have bench seats at the bow, just like a bowrider, and removable jump seats at the stern, on each side of the splashwell.

Point out all the extra "elbow room" on the Center Console!

A Dual Console and Center Console model of the same boat use the same hull, so the ride's the same and you can use either for watersports.

Tell her the kicker motor is an "emergency" motor, to keep the family safe!

(It probably won't convince her, but that's all I could think of)

if there are seats in the bow, that IS a family boat. Tell your non-boater wife that families of boaters in boating communities who know boats prefer the center console for the best all around recreational family boat. You're not driving around a bunch of old ladies who want to just sit in an easy chair and look around, are you?

THIS is a family boat: look at the pictures

watching this one for a while
needs gauges n 2 bucket seats
like the look
that back 2 back seats either gotta go or get raised up
adding the vacation hmmm:eek:

sounds like he has gotta sell now:mad:
i'd pull a "smoke" and offer 2500
and tell him to take his family on that vacation and maybe you could throw that new back 2 back seat to him for resale on cl

that is, if all is well with it:D

hey buggy, the owner of that boat is a member here. he was just asking before about that trim.

He does seem like he wants to sell, lols but I dunno if I could pull a "smoke" on another Iboats member.
I think he'd call the bluff and ask how smokes doing. ;)
but i think it could be a decent boat with a bit of TLC

oops,
sorry goes out to fellow iboater ttommy2x4.
no offense meant here.

but droppin the vaca should drop the price ... at least a lil tho.
agreed nice boat layout( i like the lines )
i had my eye on it when i bought my last one

i went with more of a finished product.
or so i thought:facepalm:
but by my repair bill i shoulda gave him a call first
even at 2500 for interior
i woulda been ahead

in any event, either way, the interior looks like a future iboats project
i'd be happy to lend a hand

can i take my foot outa my mouth now?
