While running around the lake today, I saw my temp gauge rising too high.
shut 'er down and trailered boat back home. I was shocked to find that the impeller drive shaft had broken. Is this some Cobra quirk? How does the shaft break? There is nothing wrong with the impeller, and everything had been working fine. I want to make sure that there isn't some common cause for this, since I can't make sense of it. Is this a symptom of another problem?
Can it be caused by some type of restricted/ pinched hose?
Experts please enlighten me. Any old time omc mechanics out there?

Thanks in advance, John

I may be old, but I'm not an OMC mechanic. But shafts do break. metal fatique is a common reason for breaking shafts.
To make matters worse, OMC doesn't exist anymore. Went out of buisness about 10 years ago. and no, it's not a big problem with Cobras, it does happen, but not that often. Get it fixed and go boating.

Looking for any help out there! impeller shaft snapped for the second time. Granted, I had installed a used part to repair the problem, but am I missing something? Has anyone else ever heard of this before?.
