Howdy :)

After everyone's amazing advice on my choke problem, hopefully you can point me in the right direction my next issue.

When running (on muffs in driveway) I can see a trickle of water running from high on the front of the engine. Can you advice the common culprit/areas I should investigate further. I'm hoping it's just a rooted gasket and not something more critical.

I checked top hoses and they seem fine. It's coming from lower and being flicked around by belts.

Cheers :)

Cheers. I'll plan to take both off and have a look. Both would have a gasket, do I buy genuine gaskets or buy some gasket paper and make my own?

the circ pump on the engine has a small telltale hole in the housing. it leaks to tell you the seals are bad.

Don't take either off before isolating the leak. Once you find the leak, then you can fix it. Simply taking items off may or may not fix it it.

Engine circulating pump.... Exactly the same as a car engine. Big pulley on the front of it... Take the pulley off and you're lookin' straight at the pump. BUT... As already advised. Isolate exactly what's leaking BEFORE removing anything. You may just get yourself in deeper...

Best post a photo of the leaking area (wide enough so we can make out exactly which part of the engine it is)...

Could be the housing, could be a crack in the head... Pictures are worth a thousand words...

Don't assume that the guy with a cracked thermostat housings' problem is your problem, unless you find a crack in your thermostat housing. Lots of other candidates for the source of your leak.

I suggest running the engine a couple of minutes to get the leak to, well leak ! :joyous: Then, with a small, very bright LED flashlight (or Torch for youz down under), search out where you see water coming from. I bet you find it this way.

those little LED flashlights are a life saver for me. they can get in small areas, and throw a bright white light in a narrow area. just the thing!

I took a quick vid to hopefully show ya'll the situation.

I'm obviously an idiot because I can see the water but not isolate its source. Is this 'telltale' located at the top or bottom of the circ. pump?

I'll post the vid once uploaded.

Some have weep holes only on the bottom, some have weep holes top and bottom...

last year i had also a small leak which came out from the hose of the recirc pump - i pulled the hose for winterization / block draining. it turned out the clamp was not tight enough after reinstalling so my first recommendation is - check all hoses are tightened up correctly.

I just watched your video and kept waiting for you to go further up ... to follow the stream of water. You at least have eliminated the circulating pump as the source. You need to look further up from there. Cannot tell from the video itself.
