A good reason is the ridiculous improvement with modern outboards these days. They are fast becoming a viable alternative to inboard powered larger boats. So efficient and reliable these days...most of the big makers are preferring outboard power these days.

My boating magazine came in the mail today. Every ad and test were with boats with 1 or more outboards. That has to tell you something. ten years ago it was I'/Os 10 to 1.

The I/O I sold last year will be the last one I ever buy. My 2 Merc 4-strokes beat out any boat I ever owned. (except for my tinny with the 9.5 Rude)

My brother bought a simple / no frills 14' runabout in 1968.----Powered by a 1965 40 HP Evinrude with electric start no less.----We thought we were kings of the river water skiing behind it.------That type of boat is just not made anymore.
