Welcome!<br /><br />The key to these motors is the set up. The fuel delivery system has to be correct as with any outboard. These have specific requirements and are different than a V6. <br /><br />You are allowed no fuel restrictions what-so-ever. That includes a primer bulb. There is an electric primer for primimg. No in-line connectors or fittimgs that are not straight and a minimum of 3/8" ID. <br /><br />These are great motors and worked well as designed. Set it up like a V6 and you will be very disappointed. Set it up correctly and it will live forever. Since this is a 1989 motor we assume that its set up correctly.<br /><br />Yes, it will burn more fuel than todays 250 or 300's but its still a carb'd motor with a straight mag CD ignition. Very basic, nothing trick.<br /><br />I've had several. I like 'em. Good luck!
