please correct me if i am wrong, and i may very well be, but dont the vortec engines use 8 bolt intakes? afaik all automotive ones were unless some of the real early ones were 12. Unless marine applications are different. Just curious, i may need one in the future.

You didn't post pictures of the drive but the first picture does show you have the older dog clutch Cobra and not the newer Volvo style SX. That's too bad.

Yeah. It's also not a 94 model either. The 94's were the cone-clutch models..........So the presence of the ESA and shift actuator indicates it's a Dog-clutch model according to the BRP parts site, it would be a PRE-94 model. (93 or earlier if someone has done some swapping in previous years)

You need to get an OEM OMC service manual (on ebay, craigslist, etc)

Do a little reading. A dog-clutch Cobra MUST be serviced (with oil) using the correct re-fill procedure or you will destroy the drive.

Vortex or Vortec? GM called all of the 4.3L Vortex. True Vortec heads weren't put on GM engines until 1995.

Please show us a link how you determined this.

Your intake manifold have 8 or 12 bolts holding it down? 12 = non-vortec. Actually, I can tell from your pictures that you don't have Vortec heads.

Look on the transom assembly for the model number. Should look like what Rick posted earlier.

Vortec heads came out in 1996, the engine is in a 1994 boat. NOT a vortec engine in this case.
