Friends,
I am sure all are pretty tired of my on going problem here but I think I have finally stumbled on the problem. It is a short in the small black wire immediately at the base of the interrupter switch. I did install a new slave solenoid but I found that the gauges remained dead and no crank when turning the key to ignition. Just by chance, I happened to notice that the small fuse/breaker reset button under the key was poking out. I reset this and it started right up. I wend back and touched the black wire and the motor stalled out. Within a few seconds the fuse button popped out again. I restarted the engine and very gently manipulated the black wire and the engine wanted to stall and the slightest touch. It finally stalled and I looked back at the key and saw the fuse pop again. So, it seems pretty certain that I need to install the new style shift interrupter. I will look for past post on how to accomplish this. I would very much welcome a link to a good post or any further advice.
Thank you,
