I've got a 1988 4.3/Alpha 1 RWC combo. Cruising temp runs 140-145 F. Never goes above 150 F even at extended (5-10 min) idle. Is this normal operating range?

Thanks for the reply. The auto tech in me thought it was a tad cool.

It is a tad cool with regards to efficiency. That's the trade-off to slow the corrosion down and keep the salt in solution...

My thoughts exactally. I was wondering if maybe I had a stuck or missing t-sat and possibly using more fuel than necessary.

Does it also slow corrosion in a fresh water application?

Yes...corrosion in general is accelerated by higher temps.

It's not the corrosion as much as the temperature that salt starts coming out of solution.
